Glaucoma
Glaucoma is an eye condition that can damage your optic nerve, which connects your eye to your brain. It’s usually caused by increased pressure in the eye, though sometimes it can happen with normal eye pressure. If not treated, it can lead to permanent vision loss, especially affecting your side (peripheral) vision.
But don’t worry – with the right treatment and regular check-ups, glaucoma can be managed effectively.
Dry Eye
Dry eye syndrome is a common eye health condition which effects roughly 20% of the population.
Conditions of a modern lifestyle can make symptoms of dry eye even worse. Working on computer screens, artificial lighting, air conditioning, wearing contact lenses, and previous eye surgery can all add to the discomfort caused by dry eye.
Floaters
Floaters (Myodesopia) are small, shadow-like shapes that appear in the visual field. They often look like spots, threads, or cobwebs drifting when you move your eyes. Floaters are caused by small clumps or strands of vitreous gel inside the eye casting shadows on the retina.
Floaters move as your eyes move. They appear to zoom away when you try to look directly at them, and typically drift slowly back when your eyes stop moving.
Additional common conditions and treatments include:
- Lazy eye (amblyopia)
- Astigmatism
- Atropine treatment for myopia
